No Shame

Louise Mary

This morning our speaker Lou shared from Luke 15 v11-20 (ESV) on the parable of the prodigal son. Within this parable, she looked at the theme of how the prodigal son sees his father from the pigpen in v’s 17-19.

“But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have more than enough bread, but I perish here with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired servants.”’

Guilt says you’ve made a mistake, shame says you are the mistake.

Shame makes us feel like we are separated from God but that is not the truth! He is always there for us with his arms open wide.

Lou recommended this week that we read 1 John 4 7-21. “There is no fear in love, love drives out fear”.
