Be Encouraged!

Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path” Psalm 119:105

There is one sure-fire way of being encouraged and that is by reading the Bible. About the Bible, Billy Graham says: “Down through the years it’s been ridiculed, burned, refuted, destroyed, but it lives on. Most books are born, live a few short years, and then go the way of all the earth; they’re forgotten. But not the Bible. The Bible is preserved. It lives on.” He is right! The Bible is a ‘miracle’ Book.

Its composition is a miracle. The 66 Books that make up the Bible are the writings of 40 totally different people ranging from Kings to shepherds, over a period of 1,600 years. It contains historic records and prophetic predictions, none of which have been disproved. The amazing thing is, they all link together to reveal the existence of one true and living God.

Its preservation is a miracle. In spite of many attempts to disprove it, to mock it and even to forbid its translation and distribution; it has become the most read, most talked about and most widely translated book in the world. It has been produced in many different versions and reaches the widest possible variety of people and cultures.

The effect it has on people’s lives is also a miracle. Where it has been received and believed, it has brought hope and healing into countless lives. I am a disciple of Jesus Christ. He is my Saviour. He has given me eternal life. I am a citizen of the Kingdom of Heaven, and an inheritor of all the promises of God. All this and more because I believed the Good News contained in the Bible. It is in the Bible, I not only learn about Jesus, but I learn from Him as the Holy Spirit implants His word into my heart.

Through the years, the Word of God has encouraged both men and women to live lives that have brought blessing, salvation, and healing to thousands. It can do the same for us. Let God encourage us through His Word. Let it fill our minds, our hearts, and our homes. By reading the Bible we meet the God of the Bible. His Word brings us hope and encouragement, joy and peace.

Read it, think about it and believe its message.

Be blessed.
